10 for 10 with a double, 4 ding dong daddies that traveled thirty feet over the RF wall, and 8 RBI. That could be a season worth of stats for many. For Craig, though, it is just his first day on the job. Tack onto that throwing a 5 inning no-hit shutout, while racking up more than double the amount of Ks than BB allowed (all but two outs recorded), and you have an opening week performance not nearly matched by anyone else who took the field.

Steals may not have directly won any games opening week, but the runners came out of the gates in a hurry as nobody was caught stealing. There were a few occasions when a hitter had to bail out the runner by slapping the ball into play, but for the most part the "steal sign" was used expertly during its league-wide debut. David (Ducks) and Ryan (Balls) got a little better jump than anyone else: successful twice on two attempts each. What is the secret to their success? Bullard says he does not even think about it; just remembers he has a steal in his pocket, so he calls it out. For Castle's part, he just doubts any pitcher's ability to hit the board with any pitch at any time.
