The 2013 rookie class is thin, but week 2 saw one of the rookie of year favorites shine in a big way. Sure he played against two winless teams, but when you go 12 innings without giving up a run, walking only one, and striking out 29, you will get noticed. The winds were strong at the Den, but Kiefer was locked in. He showed the league that the Westside Warriors finally have something they never did in 2011, a true ace.
King Friday has had a revolving door roster this year, as everyone besides captain Richard Hurd is now gone from last year's team. Part-time players have been moved into full-time roles, meaning it can be difficult getting enough people to come to games. In week 2, although John Sharlow lived about an hour away, he was still willing to drive to the Den to help out King Friday. What started as a favor has now turned into a spot on the roster as John quickly fell in love with the game. John was brilliant in the field as he caught everything hit his way in right field, and made a lot of contact with the ball at the plate. He now gives King Friday a lefty bat they need, and reliability they need even more.
