Normally, when you talk Austin Bischoff you talk pitching, which makes sense when talking about the reigning Clown Shu. But not today. There is a new, booming offense in Whiteford. To quote their P.R. Department, "The Wicked Aces have already scored 66 runs so far this season in only 8 games. Last year they scored a total of 72 runs over the course of the entire season." This week Austin accounted for 13 of those runs scored, batted in 15, hit .500, and slugged .950. Three of his hits were home runs, which catapulted him into the league lead. Oh, and Austin did some of that pitching stuff, too: holding the Ducks scoreless through 5 innings, and recording all outs but one by strike out.
El Diablos promised some fun gimmicks for Pervis Memorial before the season, and they are starting to roll them out. That new paint job on the strike zone makes it far and away the greatest strike zone we have ever seen! Also, the 20' foul pole in left field - which requires a team effort to bring it down - is a fantastic addition to compliment the existing pole in right, and the sombrero sitting atop is a hilariously appropriate crown jewel for the field. Often overlooked at fields are the foul lines, but at Pervis they are professional grade: bold and unmistakable. The team's efforts have already made Pervis a brilliantly fun environment in which to play, but they are not done yet. The live chicken is located and priced; now, it is just a matter of figuring out how to keep this from happening after the games. Until then, though, the guys have it covered with a faux-chicken standing in; see if you can spot it hanging out and jinxing the visiting team.
