Jason Hollister and the Brannan twins all had a successful debut for King Friday over the weekend, but the one who had the biggest impact was Greg Brannan. In a series with a lot of solid hitting for King Friday and three excellent fielding plays, Greg was able to win both the fielding and hitting stars. His fielding star was won after he made an excellent one handed catch leaning over the fence in left field and falling out of play to rob his former his former captain. It was the third out of the inning and stopped any momentum the Belgian Wiffles might have gained. Greg's hitting star was won by going 4 for 8 against his former team with all four hits being home runs. Greg now is up to five fielding stars and is in the driver’s seat to win a Diamond Digit in his rookie season.

The festivities at Pervis Memorial on Saturday were excellent to say the least. The unsung hero of the series was the tent which kept the fans and sound equipment dry. Big props to the Wicked Aces for lugging the PA system up to Southgate, by the way. The rain was heavy at times, but it did not stop El Diablos from putting on an excellent show. A ceremonial first pitch was thrown by Nick Coffee to start off the fun. The Munson was a tough one to decide but it is awarded to Craig (Skinny) Skinner, who right before the 4th inning of the second game won the Sausage Race against Nick (Cuppa) Coffee, and Mark (Marky Mark) Phillips. Cuppa Coffee lost his way and failed to make the turn toward 2nd base, but did end up finishing in 2nd place. It became a two man race between Skinny Skinner and Marky Mark. Mark had the lead, but decided his seat looked nicer than home, leaving Skinner to win the first ever WSEM Sausage Race.
